On the 12th of January 2020 I preached the message below as part of my Designing your life” series. The notes below are a summary to follow along with the audio.
2019 – What a year, right?! As you read that, you probably had a variety of responses. If your year was like mine, you read that and put a smile on your face. If it was a little rough (#ephemism) then you probably read that and took a deep breath, thanking God it’s over.
I had a great 2019 – but saying all that! I’m so amped for an even better 2020. I believe that this will be a great year for my family. I’m trusting the Lord for that.
Here’s something I’ve realized that I think has helped me in the way I plan my life: no one wakes up having accidently achieved success. Every successful person worked at it, planned for it, sacrificed for it.
In 2019, you likely wished you had more of something. Maybe more money, or more friends, or more gains at gym…. it could be a fairly long list. I think most of us would agree – we wish we had more time!
Hebrews chapter 6 has an interesting message for those who have been Christians for a while:
Hebrews 6 Names of God Bible (NOG)
6 With this in mind, we should stop going over the elementary truths about Christ and move on to topics for more mature people. We shouldn’t repeat the basics about turning away from the useless things we did and the basics about faith in God. 2 We shouldn’t repeat the basic teachings about such things as baptisms, setting people apart for holy tasks, dead people coming back to life, and eternal judgment. 3 If God permits, we will do this.
I preached in November at Eastside Community Church on this passage, encouraging us to pursue Spiritual Maturity. Give it a listen – I hope it encourages and stretches you.
